Dr. Julio Paolo Zavala joined North Texas Kidney Disease Associates in 2020. Dr. Zavala was born and raised in Lima, Peru and attended medical school at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed his Internal Medicine training at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County/Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and Nephrology at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Dr Zavala was elected member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in 2014 by the Geisel School of Medicine at Darmouth as a recognition for his commitment with the education of medical students.
Dr. Zavala practiced in Laredo Texas for six years where he has served as Medical Director of two dialysis clinics and was involved in medical education as a Core Faculty and Assistant Professor of the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the University of Incarnate World. He was also very actively involved in different Hospital Committees at Laredo Specialty Hospital and Laredo Medical Center where he was elected “Physician of the Quarter” in 2017.
Dr. Zavala is fluent in English and Spanish and is board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. He lives with his wife and two children and is an avid sports fan. He enjoys playing soccer, cycling and traveling.
